BJP MLA Anil Sharma dies of cancer at the age of 63

Bulandshahr: BJP MLA from Shikarpur assembly constituency of the district and former Uttar Pradesh minister Anil Sharma died of cancer in a Delhi hospital on Wednesday. He was 63 years old.

According to local officials and party sources, Sharma, a native of Surjawali village in Shikarpur area, was being treated for cancer at a Delhi hospital, where he breathed his last on Wednesday.

Anil Sharma was first elected MLA from Khurja assembly constituency in 2002 on Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) ticket. He again retained the seat in the 2007 assembly elections by contesting on a BSP ticket.

Later, he joined BJP and was elected from Shikarpur constituency in the 2017 assembly elections. Sharma later served as the Minister of State for Forest and Environment in the Government of Uttar Pradesh. In the 2022 assembly elections, he was re-elected from Shikarpur on BJP ticket.
