BJP-RSS have turned temples into ATMs for withdrawing money: Sachin Pilot
Agra. The political temperature has once again risen regarding donations and offerings for the construction of Ram temple. Veteran Congress leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan Sachin Pilot has made a scathing attack on the Central Government and BJP-RSS during a press conference at the Uttar Pradesh Congress Headquarters. Pilot simply alleged that in the name of faith, crores of Ram devotees of the country have been betrayed. He said that the donations collected in the name of Lord Ram have been heavily manipulated.
Sachin Pilot raised questions on the resignations of top officials of Ram Mandir Trust and termed it a deliberate cover-up. In fact, Congress is adopting an aggressive stance regarding this entire matter and is considering it not just an administrative lapse but a robbery on the faith of crores of people. Pilot says that when this entire trust was formed under the supervision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself, then why is the government avoiding taking responsibility for this alleged scam?
Big questions raised on the resignation of Champat Rai and Anil Mishra
During the press conference, Sachin Pilot put three basic questions before the media. He said, “If everything was fine, then why did the then general secretary of the trust Champat Rai and trustee Anil Mishra have to resign from their posts? This resignation itself is proof that there is nothing black in the pulses, but the entire pulses are black.” He alleged that organizations affiliated to BJP and Sangh did politics in the name of Ram temple for decades, gained power and now the game is being played in the offerings of the same temple.
In fact, the Congress alleges that to hide the turmoil going on within the Trust, the Sangh’s Eastern Uttar Pradesh in-charge Krishna Mohan has now been made the new General Secretary. According to the pilot, all this is being done so that the matter can be hush up and the heat of the investigation does not reach the big fish.
Controversy over the huge expenses of life-consecration and flag hoisting
Underlining the seriousness of the matter, Sachin Pilot also presented some figures, which are under the purview of recent media reports and SIT investigation. It is being told that about ₹ 113 crore was spent on the consecration ceremony held on January 22, 2024, in which only 8,000 guests attended. Subsequently, ₹10.12 crore was also spent in another flag hoisting ceremony held on 25 November 2025.
Citing statements coming at the local level, Pilot said that many serious cases of fake receipts and manipulation in cash offerings have come to light. The surprising thing is that action is being taken only against small employees, while top officials taking policy decisions are sitting safe. Referring to the Badrinath temple in Uttarakhand, Pilot said that no holy place is left safe under the BJP-RSS rule.
Congress’s direct demand: Investigation should be done under the supervision of Supreme Court.
In the last part of the press conference, Sachin Pilot made it clear that Congress will not let this issue be suppressed. He has demanded that the present Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust should be dissolved immediately and in its place a new, transparent trust of religious leaders and administrative experts should be formed.
Along with this, Congress has demanded a forensic audit of the entire donations and offerings and registering an FIR against all the accused including Champat Rai and Anil Mishra and arresting them. Pilot said that if the Central Government has nothing to hide, then why is it afraid of an independent judicial investigation under the supervision of the Supreme Court?
This important press conference was conducted by State Congress spokesperson Kunwar Singh Nishad, while Metropolitan President Amit Singh and District President Ramnath Sikarwar were also present.
