Islamabad. The Baloch Liberation Army has claimed responsibility for 38 attacks targeting the Pakistani Army in Balochistan, in which more than 32 army personnel and their colleagues were killed and a large number of people were injured. In a statement issued on Tuesday, BLA spokesperson Jiyand Baloch said that these attacks were carried out between August 1 and 8. The armed group targeted Pakistani military convoys, camps, infantry divisions, bridges, railway lines, police check posts and vehicles carrying goods.
According to the statement, BLA fighters blew up several military vehicles, quadcopters, bridges and railway tracks. The group seized military equipment and a Pakistani Army Intelligence operative was killed. The statement said the first attack took place on August 1 in Dasht area of Kalat district. According to the report of The Balochistan Post, armored vehicles of the Pakistani Army were attacked with rockets and other heavy weapons, causing huge damage.
The group claimed that on the same night, two Pakistani Army soldiers were killed and several injured in an attack on a foot patrol in Kund Umrani area of Mastung. The BLA further said that, on August 2, its fighters attacked Pakistani troops trying to enter Sechi area of Washuk district, killing two soldiers. He further said that his fighters launched several attacks the next day, including capturing a police checkpoint in the Naami area of Bela on the Quetta-Karachi highway.
The BLA claimed that its fighters destroyed a bridge on the Jozki trade route in Yakmach area of Chagai district, and then attacked Pakistani troops and commercial vehicles at the same place. It is reported that the attack lasted for about 40 minutes, in which several Pakistani Army soldiers were killed, while a quadcopter was destroyed. The BLA said its fighters continued their attacks on 5 August, targeting Pakistani military personnel and a convoy in the Bartagji area of Dalbandin and near a gas plant on the Quetta-Taftan route.
According to the group, its fighters later attacked two Pakistani military vehicles in Sultan Charhai near Noshki, killing two soldiers and injuring four. The statement said that BLA fighters targeted a Pakistani military convoy in Chehtar area of Dalbandin on August 6, causing major damage. It further claimed that one soldier was killed in an attack on Pakistani Army foot patrol in Dali area of Kharan. Also, on August 7, the BLA said that its air and drone warfare unit, 'Kahar', attacked a Pakistani military camp in Sultan Charhai of Noshki, reportedly causing damage to the place.
