Automobile Desk: There will soon be a big burden on the pockets of customers planning to buy a luxury car. Vehicle manufacturing company BMW Group India is preparing to once again increase the prices of its luxury vehicles in the Indian market. If this increase is implemented, this will be the fourth time in the year 2026 that the company will increase the prices of its vehicles. This decision will have a direct impact on BMW as well as the vehicles of its British luxury brand 'Mini'.
The company says that due to the constantly changing economic conditions and increasing cost of raw materials, it has become extremely important to take this step. Recently, during the unveiling of its new BMW 7 Series and all-electric BMW i7 in the Indian market, BMW Group India President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Hardeep Singh Brar gave clear indications about this. He said that this year the company has already increased the prices of its vehicles thrice and considering the circumstances, new rates can be implemented from next month i.e. October 2026.
Currency fluctuations in the international market and fall in the value of rupee have significantly affected the costs of the automobile industry. According to Hardeep Singh Brar, the direct impact of foreign exchange fluctuations is visible on the financial margins of the company. If compared with the beginning of last year, a major change of about 18 percent has been recorded in the exchange equations of rupee and foreign currency. Additionally, the rates of key commodities and raw materials used in manufacturing vehicles also remain at high levels.
The result of this continuous increase in costs is that within 2026, the prices of various models of BMW and Mini will have increased by an average of 4 to 5 percent. After the new price hike proposed in the coming months, luxury segment buyers will have to pay more for these vehicles. However, the company has not yet made it clear as to the model as to what percentage will be increased on a particular vehicle.
Amidst this price revision, the company is continuously strengthening its portfolio in the Indian market. BMW has introduced new variants of its flagship sedan 7 Series and fully electric i7 in the country. Both these vehicles will be brought to India through the CKD (Completely Knocked Down) route and will be assembled locally. The company has started accepting official bookings of these premium vehicles and their delivery is also expected to be available to the customers from October 2026.
