The court has given a big verdict on Wednesday in the suicide case of actress Pratyusha Banerjee. A single bench of Justice SG Dige on Wednesday ordered that the prosecution did not have enough evidence to take the case to trial. Actress Pratyusha Banerjee's former partner Rahul Raj Singh has been discharged. 24 year old Pratyusha Banerjee was found hanging in her rented flat in Goregaon West on 1 April 2016.

In the suicide case of late actress Pratyusha Banerjee, the court on Wednesday gave a big verdict and acquitted her then boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh.
Pratyusha became famous by playing the character of Anandi in the TV serial Balika Vadhu. This matter is about 10 years old. 24 year old Pratyusha was found dead in her flat. Her then boyfriend and live-in partner, actor-producer Rahul Raj Singh, took her to the hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.
On the complaint of his mother Soma Banerjee, Bangur Nagar police had registered a case against Rahul Raj Singh under sections 306 (abetment of suicide), 323, 504, and 506 of the Indian Penal Code. The allegation was that Rahul tortured her physically, mentally and financially. Rahul had got anticipatory bail from the High Court in July 2016. The police had filed a charge sheet in 2018.
After this, Rahul applied for discharge, which was rejected by the Dindoshi Sessions Court in August 2023. The Sessions Court had then said that from the statements of the witnesses it appeared that the accused had made the life of the deceased hell.
