Automobile Desk: Mini, a car manufacturer with a special identity in the luxury hatchback segment, has introduced the new MINI Cooper Oxford Edition of its iconic 3-door hatchback in the Indian market. The company has also officially started pre-launch booking of this limited edition model. This new edition is designed to celebrate the brand's rich British heritage and 25 years of successful production of the modern Mini at its Oxford manufacturing plant in the UK.
Talking about design and exterior, this car shows a great combination of traditional British styling. To give the car a different and premium look from the regular model, it has been given a white contrast roof, on which the graphic of 'Union Jack' (National Flag of Britain) is seen in modern style. Apart from this, red and white racing stripes have been given on the bonnet and body which give it a sporty appeal. The car comes with 18-inch two-tone slide spoke alloy wheels with white mirror caps. Flag theme detailing is also present on the wheel hubs and valve-caps. Color options include attractive shades like Indigo Sunset Blue.
As soon as you step inside the cabin of the car, a glimpse of the British theme is clearly visible. A special textured Union Jack motif has been given on the lower part of its steering wheel. Attention to detail is maintained on the interior with a round-shaped British flag on the driver's side floor mat and a checkered flag motif on the passenger's side mat, reflecting Mini's storied racing history. Along with this, exclusive Oxford Edition badging has been given on the door sills of the car. Along with the car, the company is also offering a special 'Oxford Capsule Collection', which includes bags and accessories matching the theme of the car.
In terms of engine and performance, this special edition is based on the petrol-powered MINI 3-door hatchback. It has been launched in the market in two trims – Cooper C and the more powerful Cooper S. No changes have been made in its mechanical setup. Its Cooper S variant gets the same 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, which generates maximum power of 204hp and peak torque of 300Nm. This car is very special for speed lovers, because it can achieve speed from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 6.6 seconds.
The company will sell this exclusive model in limited numbers in India only. It has emerged as a great option for customers looking for original British legacy and sporty performance in a premium hatchback. Currently, the company has started accepting its bookings, while its official prices and delivery dates will be announced soon.
