Special care has to be taken about food during the fast. In such a situation, the biggest problem arises when one starts getting bored of eating sago khichdi, fruits and potatoes every day. If you also want to eat something new and tasty this Navratri, then you can include some easy recipes in your fruit diet. These dishes can be easily prepared at home and also add variety to the fasting menu.

Sama Rice Casserole

If you want to eat something like rice during the fast, then Sama rice pulao can be a good option. To make it, take Sama rice, potatoes, peanuts, green chillies, cumin seeds, rock salt and some ghee.
First of all, wash the Sama rice thoroughly and soak it for some time. Now heat ghee in the pan and add cumin and green chillies. After this, add potatoes and peanuts cut into small pieces and fry. Now add sama rice and water as per requirement. Cover and cook on low flame. When the rice becomes soft, the hot pulao is ready. It can also be eaten with curd.

Sabudana Vada

If you want to eat something crunchy other than sago khichdi, then you can make sago vada. For this, soaked sago, boiled potatoes, roasted and coarsely ground peanuts, green chillies, green coriander and rock salt are required.

Buckwheat flour does not bind as easily as normal wheat flour, so adding potatoes can make roti making easier. Make small rotis and bake them on a hot pan, applying ghee. Choose the spices and salt used in the fast as per your tradition. Cut the fruits into small pieces and keep them in a vessel. Add fresh curd on top and mix well. If you wish, you can also add some roasted peanuts, if it is acceptable in your fast.
