pimpri/Boxing: The team from Pimpri-Chinchwad city dominated and won the title with the best performance in the Pune Divisional Thai Boxing Tournament held at Akurdi. In this competition, the team of Ahilyanagar (Pimpri) runners-up, while the team from Solapur bagged the third position. As many as 370 players from various districts of Pune Division participated in this tournament.
Officially sanctioned by the Maharashtra Thai Boxing Association, in association with Bina English Medium School and Bina Sports Club and in collaboration with Pimpri-Chinchwad Thai Boxing Association, the tournament was held with enthusiasm at the Bina Sports Club auditorium in Akurdi on Sunday (20th). Boys and girls from seven districts of Pune division participated in various age groups and weight groups. The athletes displayed tremendous technical skills, agility, determination and great sportsmanship in the most intense and demanding fights in the ring.

All the medal winning athletes who performed brilliantly in the competition were honored with medals and certificates by the dignitaries present. The players were also wished for the upcoming state and national level competitions. During the prize distribution, dignitaries expressed that sports like Thai Boxing inculcates great confidence, discipline, courage and sportsmanship in the youth, and such competitions become an inspiration for the bright future of the athletes.

At the inauguration of the tournament, Bina School Founder-President Azhar Khan, Shahaji Attar, Pimpri-Chinchwad Minority Nationalist Working President Yusuf Qureshi, Pimpri-Chinchwad Nationalist President and Indian Thai Boxing Federation P. Y. Attar, Akhmal Khan of Bina Sports Club, P. K. A large number of dignitaries from the field of sports were present including Rahul Kore, Head of Sports of the school. The entire technical work of this tournament was carried out under the supervision of Priyanka Matti, President of Pune Division Thai Boxing. National umpires Nazim Shaikh, Arbaaz Shaikh, Kiran Mane, Gaikwad Karbhari and Swapnil Warule handled the exact responsibility as Chief Umpire. Ganesh Mandhare and Abhishek Shinde played an important role in the successful planning of the tournament, while Raviraj Gadhave coordinated the entire program.
