Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal (Yuzvendra Chahal Retirement) has announced his retirement from cricket. Chahal announced his retirement through an Instagram post. Chahal is currently playing county cricket in England. He has surprised everyone with his sudden decision. However, Chahal only announced his retirement from first-class cricket. He will continue to play in ODI and T20 formats. Chahal has been away from the Indian team for quite some time now and his chances of making a comeback seem slim.

Yuzvendra Chahli's retirement from cricket
Yuzvendra Chahal announced his retirement from first-class cricket in a post on Instagram. Chahal wrote, 'The first cricket ball I ever held was red. I was 10 years old and had no idea then that I would fall in love with this game so much. Red ball cricket was never just a form for me. It was in this way that I learned the true joy of patience, the courage to face adversity and the joy of staying on the field for hours, fighting for every run and every wicket.'
My journey is not over yet…
Chahal further wrote, 'I played my last first-class match at Lord's. I am very emotional as I say this, because it has always been a dream of mine to make it to the Test team, which I have cherished for many years. Even though that dream didn't come true, I'm really satisfied with my journey and I'm very grateful for every opportunity I've had in this format. The red ball has given me some of the most beautiful memories of my life and no one can ever take those memories away from me. But my journey is not over yet.'
Chahal further wrote, 'I still have the desire and hunger to play for the country. I believe I still have the ability to play cricket. I will give my all to get another chance in ODI and T20 formats. Chahal's first-class career
Leg-spinner Chahal played his last match for Northamptonshire at Lord's Cricket Ground in red-ball cricket. Chahal has played 49 first-class matches in his career. He took 148 wickets at an average of 32.27. His best was 6/25. Recently, he played county cricket for Northamptonshire and took two wickets in his last match against Middlesex at Lord's. In the 2026–27 season, the 36-year-old played five matches in the County Championship and took 21 wickets. His best performance came against Durham, where he took a total of nine wickets, including five in the first innings.
