BRICS Bharat Innovates Exposition begins in Delhi ahead of 18th SummitIANS
The two-day ‘Bharat Innovates Exposition’ commenced at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on September 11, showcasing India’s deep-tech innovations ahead of the 18th BRICS Summit scheduled for September 12 and 13 under India’s BRICS Chairship.
Organised by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs, the exposition is a national initiative designed as a global accelerator for innovations from India’s Higher Education Ecosystem. It aims to build enduring partnerships between startups, Higher Education Institutions, labs, research parks, and global stakeholders such as corporates, investors, incubators, universities, research institutes, governments, and overseas alumni.
This event marks India’s second major deep-tech startup exposition in 2026, following the inaugural Bharat Innovates held in Nice, France, from June 14 to 16.
The BRICS Bharat Innovates Exposition features 37 deep-tech startups selected from the original 120 ventures that participated in the Nice event, aligning with the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability” during India’s BRICS Chairship.
Coinciding with the BRICS Business Forum on September 11, the exposition offers innovators opportunities to engage with CEOs, investors, business leaders, and industry representatives from BRICS nations, facilitating B2B interactions, technology partnerships, investment talks, business linkages, and access to international markets. It also advances the BRICS Education Track priority of enhancing research, innovation, and startup ecosystems.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Education Minister Pralhad Joshi, and various BRICS leaders are expected to visit the exposition. Senior Indian and international delegates connected with BRICS leaders’ engagements, along with CEOs and investors from BRICS countries, are also anticipated to attend.
For participating startups, the exposition provides a prestigious platform to transform domestic innovations into global commercial and diplomatic successes. They gain direct access to BRICS CEOs and investors, visibility among Heads of State and Government, structured B2B meetings coordinated with FICCI, CII, and ASSOCHAM, and enhanced brand and diplomatic credibility.
The BRICS Bharat Innovates Exposition builds on the Ministry of Education’s efforts under India’s BRICS Chairship, which included hosting the 13th BRICS Education Ministers’ Meeting on August 7 and the 3rd BRICS Senior Officials’ Meeting on Education on August 5, 2026, held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
The Education Ministers’ Meeting concluded with the adoption of the 13th BRICS Education Ministers’ Declaration, highlighting cooperation across five focus areas: strengthening early childhood care and education, foundational literacy and numeracy, skill development and TVET, research and innovation ecosystems, mutual recognition of qualifications, and capacity building for academic leadership.
