NSA meeting of BRICS countries in Delhi today: Ajit Doval will preside, direct discussions will be held with China
Delhi BRICS NSA Meeting News: A very important meeting of National Security Advisors of BRICS countries is going to start in the capital New Delhi under the chairmanship of India. This two-day high-level meeting will be completely chaired by India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. This important meeting has been kept in view of the preparations for the BRICS summit to be held in India in September this year. Many major challenges including cross-border terrorism and the changing situation in West Asia will be discussed in this meeting.
Top security officials and senior representatives of the member countries are coming to participate in this important security conference. Mainly China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu are participating in it. Nezamipour, Deputy Secretary of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council, will also participate in this big and important meeting. A separate bilateral meeting with Ajit Doval may also be held during the visit of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
India will raise the issue of terrorism
The main theme of this meeting has been kept as non-traditional security challenges facing the world. According to government sources, India will strongly raise the issue of terrorism, especially Pakistan-backed terrorist groups, on this forum. India will toughen its stance on cross-border terrorist activities targeting Jammu and Kashmir. Apart from this, the ongoing tension and conflict between Pakistan and Afghanistan can also be discussed prominently in this meeting.
Big challenge to build consensus
This meeting is taking place at a time when different stances are being seen within the BRICS grouping on various global issues. There was no joint statement at the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ meeting held in May due to deep differences between Iran and the UAE. In BRICS, all decisions are taken by consensus, hence India will have the challenge of bringing all the countries on one platform. Now a total of 11 major and big emerging economies including Brazil, Russia, India, China have been included in this group.

The secure use of information and communication technologies and the formation of a joint task force against terrorism will also be reviewed. China’s Ambassador to India Xu Feihong has said that China is keen to exchange views on the global security situation. This platform has become quite powerful with the addition of new countries like Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia.
