New Delhi: Global leaders have started arriving in India to participate in the 18th BRICS summit. In this series, three huge Russian transport planes landed at Noida International Airport on Thursday. Russian President Vladimir Putin is likely to reach New Delhi on Friday. An important bilateral meeting between President Putin and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to be held on Friday, September 11, just ahead of the multilateral summit. This talk, which will be held before the main event to be held on 12th and 13th September in New Delhi, is considered very important in terms of strategic relations between the two countries.
'Resilience, Innovation and Collaboration' theme
India is hosting the 18th BRICS summit in New Delhi on 12 and 13 September 2026. This year the main theme of the summit has been “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Corporation and Sustainability”.
This conference, being organized in India amid the global economic and political scenario, will prove to be very helpful in giving a new direction to mutual coordination among the member countries.
Talks will focus on business cooperation
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed the meeting between Prime Minister Modi and President Putin during a virtual briefing from Moscow. He told that the two leaders will first discuss their bilateral agenda.
According to Peskov, the scope of trade and economic cooperation between India and Russia is very wide, so this visit will provide an excellent opportunity to further strengthen mutual cooperation. He appreciated the personal and practical relationship between the two top leaders, saying that they always communicate in an open and constructive manner on the most sensitive issues.
Emphasis on expansion of new members
Russia has expressed full confidence in the success of this summit being organized by India. Peskov clarified that Russia is making every effort to advance BRICS cooperation under its three main pillars of politics and security, economy and finance, and cultural and humanitarian exchanges. At the same time, Russia strongly supports the expansion and inclusion of new countries in various forms of BRICS.
