It is said that Baba reached Vrindavan in the last phase of his life in the year 1973. His last journey started from Kainchi Dham around 9th September and he came to Brajbhoomi. Different accounts of the date of his last moments mention the nights of 10 September and 11 September, but widely 11 September 1973, Anant Chaturdashi, is associated with his Mahasamadhi. According to the Ashram information, during Chaitra Navratri in the year 1973, Baba had performed a nine-day yagya in the Vrindavan Ashram premises. At that time hardly anyone knew that this place chosen by Baba would become the place of his Mahasamadhi in future.
After Baba left his body, the devotees performed his last rites at the same place and later Mahasamadhi temple was built there. According to the official information of the Ashram, the consecration of Baba's statue took place on 9 February 1981 on the occasion of Basant Panchami.
