This meeting has become a topic of discussion after the picture of the three leaders standing together surfaced. This picture, which surfaced during the BRICS Summit, is being considered as one of the important pictures of the conference.
Meanwhile, bilateral talks were also held between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit. In the meeting, India's Foreign Minister S. Senior representatives of both the countries, including Jaishankar and National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval attended. Both the leaders emphasized on further strengthening mutual relations and taking forward bilateral cooperation.
PM Modi welcomed Xi Jinping
This meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with Chinese President Xi Jinping, who reached India after almost seven years, is considered very important. During the conversation, PM Modi welcomed Jinping and said that he was happy to welcome him. He also expressed gratitude for Jinping's positive statement at the BRICS summit. The Prime Minister said that once again there is an opportunity to discuss bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
Consensus reached on joint statement of BRICS
The first day of the 18th BRICS summit was important for India. A joint statement was agreed upon among the member countries. In the joint statement, taking a strong stand against terrorism, the Pahalgam terrorist attack was condemned in clear words. Also, the commitment to stop the funding of terrorism and to take action against the cross-border movement of terrorists and safe havens was reiterated. The statement said that BRICS considers any act of terrorism as criminal and unjustified and strongly condemns it, regardless of its motivation, wherever and by whomsoever it is committed.
Strong condemnation of Pahalgam attack
In the joint statement of BRICS, the terrorist attack that took place in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April 2025 was specifically mentioned. The statement said that 26 people died and many were injured in this attack. Member states committed to fighting terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. In this, emphasis was also laid on eliminating cross-border movement of terrorists, terror funding and safe havens.
The joint statement also said that terrorism should not be linked to any religion, nationality, civilization or ethnic group. It was said that those involved in terrorist activities and their support should be held accountable and brought to justice under national and international law.
China expressed concern over West Asia crisis
According to Xinhua News Agency, Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed China's desire to play a role in maintaining peace and stability in West Asia and the Gulf region. He said that China is ready to work together with other BRICS member countries in this direction. Xi Jinping said that the war has caused huge losses to the people of the entire region and the current situation is not conducive to the common interests of the international community.
First visit to India after Galwan clash
Chinese President Xi Jinping has reached India after almost seven years. This is his first visit to India after the clash in Galwan Valley. In such a situation, the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Xi Jinping is being considered important from the point of view of India-China relations.
