BRICS Summit: Preparations for BRICS intensified, Delhi government will inspect the main road from Bharat Mandapam to the airport.

Delhi. The Delhi government will inspect the route from Bharat Mandapam to Indira Gandhi International Airport on Saturday as part of preparations for the upcoming BRICS summit. Meanwhile, Delhi Traffic Police will review the arrangements related to traffic management while DIAL and NHAI officials have been asked to ensure all preparations around the airport and on the routes under the jurisdiction of the Highway Authority.

Officials said that during this inspection, to be chaired by the Chief Secretary of Delhi, the condition of roads, potholes, footpaths, drainage and waterlogging on the route, cleanliness, BRICS related 'branding' and the overall condition of the surrounding areas will be reviewed.

Officials from various agencies including Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), Public Works Department (PWD), Delhi Police, Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) and National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) have been asked to participate in the inspection.

The department will solve the problem of waterlogging on these routes

The Additional Chief Secretary of the Irrigation and Flood Control Department has been asked to review the drainage system on the route, places prone to waterlogging and measures to drain water in case of emergency. The NDMC Chairman will inspect the areas under his jurisdiction, especially the places where dignitaries will stay and programs will be organised.

Review of management of stray animals

At the same time, the MCD Commissioner will review cleanliness, encroachment, beautification and management of stray animals on the routes falling under the jurisdiction of the corporation. The Public Works Department has been asked to take stock of the condition of potholes, cleanliness, signage, lighting and waterlogging on the roads under its jurisdiction and take necessary corrective steps.
