BRICS Working Group meeting in Varanasi: More than 30 guests from 11 countries attended

Varanasi, June 4. The meeting of BRICS Cultural Working Group started from Thursday in Kashi, the religious and cultural capital of the country. More than 30 guests from 11 countries attended the two-day BRICS meeting on the first day. The program started with the lighting of the traditional lamp.

During the meeting held at the local Taj Hotel, representatives of BRICS countries discussed the priorities set by India under the Culture Track, in which creative economy, conservation of cultural heritage and culture-based sustainable development were the main topics.

Representatives of India, Brazil, China, South Africa, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Indonesia and Iran participated in the meeting physically while representatives of Russia, Ethiopia and Egypt joined virtually. Diplomats, policy makers, cultural experts and distinguished representatives discussed in these. This meeting is serving as an important platform to strengthen cultural cooperation and take forward common initiatives among the BRICS countries.

Special exhibition of world famous GI tagged and ODOP products of Kashi

During the meeting, a special exhibition of world famous GI tagged and ODOP (One District-One Product) products of Kashi has also been organized. In this exhibition, six unique products of six artisans from the rich craft tradition of Varanasi have been displayed. Through the exhibition, foreign representatives are being made aware of the uniqueness of these products. The special thing is that this exhibition is also giving an opportunity to local artists and artisans to market their products to the global market.
