Britain’s Defense Minister John Healey resigns – Read
British Defense Minister John Healey suddenly resigned on Thursday. He said that in this era of increasing danger, the government is not ready to spend enough on the army.
Healey told Prime Minister Keir Starmer that the government’s defense investment plan falls far short of what is needed at this dangerous time.

Starmer’s close aide Healey said that he learned on Monday that Starmer was going to announce a ‘Defense Investment Plan’. Under this plan, funding for the army will not be increased as much as Healy believes is necessary.
“I am being pressured to make decisions that will reduce the readiness of our military, increase the risk to troops deployed on operations, and could weaken the nation’s security,” Healey said in a letter to the prime minister and posted on Internet media.
Healey’s vote of no confidence in the Prime Minister further reinforces the point of critics who say the party needs change at the top level.
Healy said that under Starmer’s plans, military spending would rise to 2.68 percent of GDP by 2030, down from the three percent that Healey and Starmer had previously discussed.
