Bike is being manufactured in Hosur plant, launch timeline revealed
According to information received from automotive industry sources, production of the Norton Atlas series has started on a dedicated assembly line at the TVS plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. Due to large scale localization in India itself, its price can be kept quite competitive. This much-awaited adventure bike from the Norton brand can be officially launched for sale globally and in the Indian market around November 2026. Test mules have been spotted on Indian roads without any calaflage, which is a clear indication of it being production-ready.
Complete details of powerful parallel-twin engine and performance
Both the Norton Atlas and Atlas GT motorcycles have a 585cc liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine. Coming with a 270-degree crankshaft, this engine generates maximum power of 69bhp at 9,300rpm and peak torque of 57.7Nm at 7,300rpm. The company has used modern technology like multi-point sequential fuel injection and ride-by-wire throttle for better throttle response.
Direct competition with BMW F 450 GS: Who is superior to whom?
The biggest question among Indian adventure riders at the moment is whether this bike will be able to defeat the segment leader BMW F 450 GS? There is a big difference in the specifications of both:
- Engine and Power: While the BMW F 450 GS gets a 420cc twin-cylinder engine that produces 48bhp, the Norton Atlas comes with a 585cc engine that generates a massive 69bhp. Norton is far ahead in terms of power.
- Price Maths: The starting ex-showroom price of the BMW F 450 GS in India ranges from Rs 4.70 lakh to Rs 5.30 lakh. At the same time, due to being manufactured locally, the estimated price of Norton Atlas is expected to be between Rs 5 lakh to Rs 7 lakh.
- Riding Style: Norton Atlas is coming in two variants. The Atlas standard will get 19-inch spoke wheels at the front and 17-inch spoke wheels at the rear, while the road-biased ‘GT’ (GT) variant will get 17-inch alloy wheels, whose seat height will be just 810mm.
