Stock Market: Today i.e. on 8 September 2026, the Indian stock market has seen heavy selling on the second day of the week as well. Weak global market cues, rising crude oil prices and geopolitical tensions have kept investors worried. At the end of the day’s trading, both the Sensex and Nifty indices closed with big losses.
Performance of Sensex and Nifty
- BSE Sensex: At the end of trading, the Sensex closed down 555 points. A sell-off in heavyweight stocks like ICICI Bank and Reliance, in particular, dented market sentiment.
- NSE Nifty 50: The Nifty 50 also slipped below the key support level of 23,650, registering a series of declines.
