Kanpur. A businessman was burnt alive in a massive fire here on Saturday afternoon, while his seriously injured son, daughter-in-law, grandson and niece have been admitted to the hospital. This incident of horrific fire took place in a market located on Old Dakkhana Road in Ghatampur. In this accident a businessman was burnt alive to death. Whereas, his son, daughter-in-law, grandson and niece got burnt. The burnt people were referred from Ghatampur CHC to Kanpur. It took an hour for the fire brigade as well as the CISF vehicles of the power plant to control the fire.
According to the details received, 75-year-old Ramkishan Gupta, his brothers Satyanarayan and Rajjanlal live with their families on Old Dakkhana Road. There is its own market below the house, in which the three brothers have clothes and grocery shops. It was told that a fire broke out in Ramkishan’s clothing shop named Lakshmi Vastra Bhandar on Saturday morning. Seeing the smoke rising, Ramkishan came down. When I lifted the shutter of the shop, I saw that the house was filled with flames and smoke.
He ran upstairs making noise. During this time other members of the house also woke up. Meanwhile, the flames became brighter and everyone climbed from the roofs and passed through other people’s houses to save their lives. But, during this period Ramkishan was not found. After this the fire brigade was informed. Neighboring people tried to control the fire. By the time the fire brigade could arrive, the fire had completely spread and engulfed the entire house. Ramkishan’s body was taken out three hours later.
According to the police, 14 people from three families were present in the house when the fire broke out. Ramkishan had his wife Gomti, son Hariom and daughter-in-law and two grandchildren at home. Satyanarayan had a wife, a daughter and two sons at home. Rajjanlal had a wife and two children at home. Ramkishan’s son Hariom, daughter-in-law Shreya, four-month-old grandson Shivarth and Satyanarayan’s daughter Ayushi got burnt in the fire. He has been admitted to the hospital.
