Buzz of operation again in Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray called emergency meeting of MPs on Matoshree, Shinde group’s claim created stir
digital desk- After West Bengal, now once again a huge stir has intensified in the political corridors of Maharashtra. Speculations about some MPs of Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) switching sides and rebelling are gaining momentum. Meanwhile, to prevent any possible rift within the party and keep his clan united, party chief Uddhav Thackeray has called a very important meeting of all his MPs on Sunday. According to sources, this meeting has been organized at 12 noon at ‘Matoshree’, the historical residence of the Thackeray family in Bandra East, Mumbai.
Meeting called amidst discussions of ‘Operation Tiger’
Actually, this entire political stir has started after the claims made by the leaders of Shiv Sena led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Shinde faction claims that some MPs of Uddhav Sena (UBT) are in touch with them and are preparing to change sides soon. These attempts by Shinde Sena to create division in the parliamentary wing of Shiv Sena (UBT) are being named ‘Operation Tiger’ in political circles. Amid speculations of manipulation taking place under this operation, Uddhav Thackeray has summoned all his MPs to Mumbai, so that any kind of disunity can be thwarted in time.
Politics heated up due to statement of Union Minister Pratap Jadhav
This whole incident got a boost when recently Union Minister Pratap Jadhav (Shiv Sena-Shinde faction) had raised the political temperature by saying that the MPs of the Uddhav faction would change sides. Jadhav had openly hinted that “Operation Tiger is on the verge of completion. Whenever Chief Minister Eknath Shinde ji gives the green signal, it will be completed immediately.” After this statement, Uddhav Thackeray has become alert and has intensified his efforts to unite his allies and MPs. However, this week in Delhi, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde rejected these speculations, saying that the elections are over and there is no need for any numbers game.
‘Matoshree’ churning in the shadow of Parliament session and Bengal’s disintegration
This meeting is taking place at a time when many equations seem to be changing in the country’s politics. On one hand, while in West Bengal, claims are being made that about 20 MPs of Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress are rebels and supporting BJP, on the other hand, the news of possible breakup of Shiv Sena UBT MPs in Maharashtra can affect the political calculations of the Centre. At present the Uddhav Thackeray faction has 9 MPs in the Lok Sabha. However, senior Uddhav faction leader and MP Sanjay Raut has completely rejected these speculations and called it a routine meeting. According to Raut, the meeting has nothing to do with these discussions and will discuss the upcoming Parliament session, organizational issues and future election strategy. Despite this, the political eyes of the entire country are fixed on this meeting to be held on ‘Matoshree’.
