Cannes 2026: When and where will you be able to watch Cannes Film Festival, all eyes will be on Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
Tezzbuzz Desk – The 79th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, one of the world’s most prestigious film events, is going to be very special for Indian cinema this year. This film festival, to be held in the beautiful city of Cannes in France, will run from 12 May to 23 May 2026, where cinema stars from all over the world will be seen showcasing their art.
This time India’s presence looks more diverse and stronger than ever. Along with Bollywood, actors from Punjabi, Marathi, Gujarati and Malayalam cinema are also ready to leave their mark on the red carpet. This is the first time that the Indian film industry is represented at Cannes with such linguistic diversity.
The festival will start with famous French director Pierre Salvadori’s film ‘The Electric Kiss’. This time, the jury will be headed by South Korea’s famous filmmaker Park Chan-wook, while the opening and closing ceremonies will be hosted by French actress Ai Haidara.
Talking about Indian stars, once again Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will spread glamor on the red carpet with her stunning presence. Along with him, Alia Bhatt will also participate in Cannes for the second consecutive year. Apart from this, actresses like Aditi Rao Hydari, Jacqueline Fernandes, Tara Sutaria, Mouni Roy and Pooja Batra will also be a part of this grand stage. Fashion designer Manish Malhotra will also make his presence felt at Cannes this year.
Karan Johar, who was recently seen at the Met Gala, will also be seen once again in Cannes. Whereas, experienced filmmaker Ashutosh Gowarikar will be seen leading the Indian official delegation.
This time, regional cinema has also been given a special place in Cannes, which is being considered a historic step for the Indian film industry. Ammy Virk and Rupi Gill from Punjabi film ‘Chaddikala’, Ashok Saraf, Nivedita Saraf and Prajakta Mali from Marathi cinema, while Mansi Parekh and Parthiv Gohil from Gujarati cinema will be seen on the red carpet. Malayalam film ‘Balan: The Boy’ will also be a topic of discussion in the Cannes market this time.
Additionally, producers like Anshuman Jha will present Indian stories on the global stage through their films and documentaries, which include projects like ‘September 21’ and ‘Spirit of the Wildflowers’.
