Castrol Salutes India’s Mechanics With Its First “Castrol Super Mechanic” Graduation Ceremony

Campaign recognises the skill, dedication and craft of mechanics across India with training sessions and a graduation ceremony conferring on them the title of “Castrol Super Mechanic”

Castrol has long stood alongside the people who keep India’s vehicles running: its mechanics. Castrol Super Mechanic is an established initiative started in 2017, focused on upskilling and recognising India’s mechanic community – having evolved over the years through technical training, masterclasses and recognition programmes. Building on this association, Hunar – Castrol Super Mechanic brings together hands-on learning, skill development and graduation ceremonies that honour the years of expertise mechanics have built on the job. The campaign has been conceptualised and executed by Schbang as a way to formally recognise their expertise and craft.

As part of the initiative, 5000+ mechanics attended dedicated training sessions in 40+ cities led by automotive experts, giving them access to new techniques and

developments in the field. The training included BS6 Diagnosis Training and Vehicle Mechanical Systems & Maintenance Training, both ASDC-certified diagnostic training modules. The sessions were followed by a graduation ceremony where each mechanic was conferred the title of “Castrol Super Mechanic”, accompanied by a number-plate-style plaque and an ASDC certification marking the moment.

Mechanics work tirelessly, putting their heart and soul into mastering their craft. Their dedication deserves recognition, respect and a sense of pride within the community, something “Castrol Super Mechanic” is built to deliver. By moving beyond functional communication to celebrate the hard work and expertise of mechanics, the campaign builds trust and pride within the community while creating a distinct space for Castrol in the category.

Speaking about the campaign, Kaushik Vedula, Vice President – Marketing at Castrol India and South Asia said, “For decades, Castrol has been a strong support to the mechanic community. Every mechanic we meet has a story of learning their craft through experience, perseverance, and years of hands-on work. Their knowledge powers mobility every day, but it rarely gets the recognition it deserves. Castrol Super Mechanic was created by Castrol to change that, celebrating their expertise and shining a spotlight on the skills that keep millions of vehicles on the road.”

Hariharan Subramanian, Creative Director – Copy, Schbang added, “Some of the most valuable expertise in this country doesn’t come with a degree. It is built over years of doing, learning and doing again. The real people who run this country literally embody that knowledge every day. Our idea was to challenge that belief itself – that only formal learning deserves a formal moment of recognition. If years in a classroom can culminate in a graduation, years spent mastering a craft should be worthy of one too, right? Hunar –Castrol Super Mechanic brings that thought to life by giving the skills and experience of mechanics the recognition they deserve.”

Through training, recognition and community celebration, the campaign underlines Castrol’s respect for the people who keep vehicles, and in turn, the country, moving.
