Patiala. A rape case has been registered against a foreign coach of the Netaji Subhash National Institute of Sports (NIS) in Punjab on the complaint of a 16-year-old national level cyclist. Police gave this information on Tuesday.
An FIR has been registered against Maxt Ayazbayev of Kazakhstan under relevant sections of the Indian Code of Justice (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act, police said.
According to the police, the alleged incident took place on September 13 when the cyclist was training at NIS for the Asian Games. The NIS administration received information about the alleged incident on September 18, after which the police were informed about it.
Police said that the medical examination of the victim has been done and the report is awaited. According to the police, by the time they were informed, the accused coach had left the NIS premises. During investigation it was revealed that he was staying in another camp in Delhi.
After this, a team of Patiala Police reached the camp in Delhi to arrest him, but before the team reached the accused had left from there. Patiala Superintendent of Police (City) Mohit Aggarwal said that special teams have been formed to search and arrest the accused. He said that the police have also taken the passport of the accused into their custody. According to the police, the accused had come to Patiala a few months ago and was staying in the NIS employee accommodation.
