Major administrative reshuffle in CBIC: 559 IRS officers transferred, orders for new posting issued

New Delhi. In a large-scale administrative reshuffle, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has made new postings and transfers of 559 officers. CBIC has issued an order in this regard today. The Board has given clear instructions that all concerned officers should be relieved with immediate effect. Besides, he has also been directed to compulsorily take charge at his new place of posting by July 6, 2026.

Ban on representation until taking charge

CBIC has also clarified that no representation of any kind will be considered until the officers take charge at their new place.

Arrangement implemented under Transfer Policy 2018

Officers in certain specific areas have been posted under sharing arrangement under Para 3.2 of the Transfer and Posting Guidelines 2018. This includes Delhi, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Ranchi and Chennai GST zones. All these areas will have to work in coordination with the respective customs (preventive) areas.

Compliance report mandatory by July 10, Old representations will be considered cancelled.

The Board has directed all concerned zone heads to submit compliance reports of officers relieving and assuming charge by 10th July 2026. This report will also be sent to ADG (HRM-II) and DGHRD.

CBIC has also clarified that all the old representations received till now related to this transfer process will automatically be considered closed.
