The process related to the 8th Pay Commission for central employees and lakhs of pensioners across the country is now progressing very fast. The coming month i.e. this time of October is going to be very special and important for the central employees. This is because not only are there going to be several meetings of the 8th Pay Commission in this month, but there is every expectation that a big decision will be taken on the Dearness Allowance (DA) of the employees. Hasty meetings and schedule of Pay Commission
The next big meetings of the 8th Pay Commission have been scheduled in different cities of the country. An important meeting of the Commission is scheduled to be held in Bengaluru on 7 and 8 October. In the official notice issued for this, applications were invited from eligible employee organizations and all the stakeholders, the last date of which was fixed as 18 September 2026.
After this, according to another new notification issued on 21 September 2026, the Pay Commission will hold discussions with stakeholders on 22 and 23 October 2026 in the country's financial capital Mumbai. Eligible employee organizations and other stakeholders wishing to participate in this meeting have been instructed to submit their applications or responses by October 10, 2026. The exact venue of the meeting and the complete detailed program will be announced soon. Let us tell you that even before this, the Commission had organized meetings in Jaipur on 31st August and 1st September and in Chandigarh on 16th, 17th and 18th September, through which suggestions and demands are being continuously taken. Now everyone's eyes are fixed on these meetings to be held in October.
Big decision on Dearness Allowance (DA) will be taken in October
Not only the Pay Commission, but in this month of October the government is also going to make a big announcement regarding the Dearness Allowance (DA) of the employees. It is being speculated that the government may make an official announcement regarding this allowance during the holy festival of Navratri. According to media reports, this time the government can increase DA by a bumper 3 percent. If this happens, the total dearness allowance of central employees will directly increase to 63 percent, which will lead to a huge jump in their salary.
When will the final report of the 8th Pay Commission come?
The Central Government had officially constituted the 8th Pay Commission about 10 months ago i.e. on 3 November 2025. There are a total of three members in this commission and it is headed by Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai. According to the rules, the Commission has been given a total of 18 months from the date of formation to submit its final recommendations to the government. According to this, the report of the 8th Pay Commission is expected to come around May or June 2027.
However, under the rules, if needed, the Commission can also request the government to extend the deadline. At present, the Commission is visiting various states and union territories of the country and taking suggestions directly from employees, pensioners and other eligible organizations and is taking this entire process forward on a war footing.
