Central government gave information – there is no shortage of fuel in the country

New Delhi. Amidst the concerns raised regarding the availability of petrol, diesel and LPG in the country, the Central Government has clarified that there is no shortage of fuel in the country. According to the government, fuel supply in the country remains normal and refineries are working at full capacity.

Petrol and diesel supply normal

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has clearly said that there is adequate availability of petrol, diesel and LPG in the country. At some places, there has been an increase in demand at petrol pumps, but this is not due to lack of supply. The government says that in the current system the supply chain is fully active and consumers are getting fuel as per their need.

What are the reasons behind increasing demand?

According to government officials, there are two main reasons behind the increase in demand for fuel in some areas. First, increase in diesel consumption due to harvest season in agriculture sector. Second, some wholesale consumers are purchasing fuel from retail petrol pumps. Due to these reasons, pressure on petrol pumps has increased in some areas, due to which demand is temporarily higher.

Price difference also became the reason

The difference in wholesale and retail prices is also affecting the situation. It is being told that there is a difference of about Rs 40 to 42 per liter between the two, due to which some big consumers are purchasing from retail pumps instead of wholesale channel. This change has unusually increased the demand for fuel in some areas.

No impact on LPG production and supply

The government also clarified that the supply of LPG is completely stable. The country’s refineries are producing around 46,000 to 47,000 tonnes of LPG daily, which is enough to meet domestic demand. Therefore, there is no need to worry about the availability of LPG.

Advice to people to avoid panic buying

The Ministry has appealed to the common citizens not to make unnecessary purchases of fuel on the basis of any kind of rumor or apprehension. The government says that sufficient stock is available and the supply system is working smoothly.
