New Delhi. There is news of relief for domestic LPG consumers across the country. The Central Government has changed the time limit of 45 days applicable for booking refill cylinders in rural areas. Now consumers in both villages and cities will be able to book new LPG cylinders at an interval of 25 days.
It was told by the government that this relief has been given after improvement in the availability of LPG and reduction in the number of pending refills. The Petroleum Ministry has instructed oil companies to immediately implement the new system.
Earlier rural consumers had to wait
Earlier, domestic customers living in rural areas had to wait for 45 days for the next booking after getting the previous refill. Whereas in cities this period was 25 days. Now the rules have been made the same for both the areas.
Decision taken after improvement in LPG supply
Amidst the challenges in energy supply at the international level, the government had taken several steps to maintain the availability of LPG. After the situation has improved, now the restrictions related to refill booking have also been eased. This is expected to provide relief especially to rural families with high LPG consumption.
