Rohit Chandel POCSO Case: TV actor Rohit Chandel, known for his roles in serials like ‘Pandya Store’ and ‘Kashibai Bajirao Ballal’, has been arrested for stalking, repeatedly calling her, harassing her and sexually assaulting her. The actor has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The case is currently under investigation. Meanwhile, Ghatkopar police have confirmed that Rohit Chandel has confessed to stalking the minor girl. He has been produced in court and is currently in judicial custody.
Rohit Chandel was arrested on Friday, July 10. Based on the complaint, the police questioned him. The actor is accused of repeatedly calling the girl from his own phone number and from other numbers. On July 5, he stopped her near her building and had an argument with her, after which he abused her and assaulted her. The police have registered a case against him under sections 78, 115(2), 352 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Senior police inspector Vitthal Laxman Ardekar of Ghatkopar police station told The Times of India about the case, “He was arrested and produced in court. The court sent him to jail. He was stalking the girl. He is currently in judicial custody. He admitted that he used to go to meet her. The girl is a minor. He was a co-star. The girl said that he was pressurizing her. He lives in Dahisar and used to come to Ghatkopar. Even after she blocked him, he kept calling her.” Rohit started his acting career with small roles in serials like ‘Har Mushkil Ka Hal Akbar Birbal’, ‘Yam Hain Hum’ and ‘Tamanna’. After that, he appeared in serials like ‘Ye Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai’, ‘Chandragupta Maurya’ and ‘Shakti – Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki’. He got his real recognition by playing the role of Bajirao in ‘Kashibai Bajirao Ballal’. He then appeared in the role of Dhawal Makwana in the long-running family series ‘Pandya Store’. Rohit Chandel recently bagged the lead role in the romantic series ‘Sairaab’. It is being said that the actor will be replaced from this series.
