Chess Olympiad For People With Disabilities: Team India, Coached By Odisha IM Satyapragyan, Begin Well

Bhubaneswar: The Indian team, coached by Odisha IM Swayanshu Satyapragyan, has started its campaign in the 3rd FIDE Chess Olympiad for People with Disabilities on a promising note in Samarkand.

Satyapragyan’s wards outwitted the host country in the opening rounds, beating Uzbekistan B 3-1 and then the Uzbekistan 3 by a margin of 3.5 to 0.5.

In Round 3, Indian players shared honours with Germany in a 2-2 stalemate.

The 43-year-old Satyapragyan, based in Bhubaneswar, is an International Master and FIDE Trainer with over a decade of coaching experience.

The 3rd FIDE Chess Olympiad for People with Disabilities is a seven-round team tournament, with a total of 41 countries taking part. India have been seeded No. 11.
