Chief Minister reviews flood-drought preparations before monsoon

Supaul. A high-level review meeting was organized at the Bihar government level on Thursday regarding the upcoming monsoon and possible flood and drought situation. Officials from all the flood and drought affected districts of the state participated in this meeting held through video conferencing under the chairmanship of the Honorable Chief Minister.

The main objective of the meeting was to review pre-monsoon protective and administrative preparations. During this, detailed presentations on pre-flood preparedness were given by Bihar Meteorological Service Centre, Agriculture Department, Water Resources Department, Urban Development and Housing Department, Animal and Fisheries Resources Department, Public Health Engineering Department, Road Construction Department and Health Department.

The Chief Minister reviewed the security of embankments, availability of relief and rescue material, arrangement of shelter sites, medical facilities and availability of animal fodder point by point and directed the officers to remain fully alert. He said that all necessary preparations should be completed in time to deal with the possible disaster.

In the video conferencing organized from Supaul District Headquarters, District Magistrate Sawan Kumar, Superintendent of Police Sharath R.S., Deputy Development Commissioner Sara Ashraf and Additional Collector Disaster Management Mohd. District level officers of various departments including Tariq were present.

After the meeting, the District Magistrate directed all the concerned departments to remain in alert mode and complete the work related to pre-flood preparedness at the ground level in a timely manner, so that safety of life and property can be ensured in case of any possible disaster.
