A person named Zhang started a business where people lie down comfortably and the employees scratch their itches. From this strange looking service, his two stores together are earning about 1 lakh yuan i.e. about 14 lakh rupees every month.

According to South China Morning Post, Zhang has started an itch scratching service called ‘Suma’. For this, the staff wears specially designed pointed nails and gently rubs the back or body of the customer lying on the bed to soothe the itching. This method is somewhat like a massage center.

The price of this unique service is around 300 yuan i.e. around Rs 3,500 per hour. Both Zhang’s stores together are doing a business of about 1 lakh yuan i.e. about Rs 14 lakh every month. About 70 percent of the customers coming to his place are men.
Where did the business idea come from?
The idea of this work came to Zhang suddenly. Last year, he was watching a video on social media, in which a woman was scratching her husband’s back. Seeing people’s comments on the video, Zhang realized that many people were ready to pay for such a service. This also reminded him of his childhood. His father would often scratch his back and this would give him comfort. This old experience made him feel that this small thing like scratching can help people in reducing stress and finding peace.
Have tried many things before
Zhang’s journey has also been quite interesting. After completing his studies, he tried seven different jobs in just one year. Before the age of 30, he started two companies related to cross-border online business, but both did not achieve much success. After this, he also got into work related to social media, but there too he did not get the desired success. Despite this, he did not stop trying new ideas and finally started an itch scratching service.
Now the dream of opening 100 stores
Zhang’s goal is no longer to limit this unique work to just one business. He wants to open about 100 of its outlets across China. Besides, his effort is to make people recognize ‘itch scratching’ as a legitimate work and profession. He believes that with increasing stress in big cities, the demand for different types of services that provide comfort to people is also increasing. This is the reason why the work which sounds strange has now become a source of earning millions for them.
