Weather Alert: Warning of storm and rain in the middle of summer, weather will change today in many states including Delhi-NCR.

There is a possibility of dust storm, rain and hail in many states of Northern India. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand. There may be rain with strong winds and lightning in many areas including Delhi-NCR. The weather of northern India has changed once again; Amidst the scorching heat, dust storms and rain have occurred in many cities. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand.

There is a possibility of thunderstorm and hailstorm in many cities in the next few days. ‘Yellow alert’ has been issued for Delhi-NCR. The weather had changed in many parts of Delhi-NCR on Tuesday morning itself. In an update issued at 6:40 am, the weather department has predicted light rain with thunder and lightning over various parts of Delhi-NCR during the next two hours. During this time, strong winds with a speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour are expected. Earlier, late Monday night, dust storm and light rain were recorded in parts of Delhi—including Najafgarh, Dwarka, Palam and IGI airport—as well as Gurugram, Bahadurgarh and Manesar. During this period the wind speed was between 40 to 60 kilometers per hour.

Alert issued for Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan

According to the weather department, there is a possibility of thunderstorm and rain in areas of Uttar Pradesh—such as Shamli, Baghpat, Modinagar, Agra, Mathura and Aligarh—within the next few hours. There is a possibility of bad weather in Kaithal, Assandh, Jhajjar and Palwal of Haryana. Meanwhile, a warning of dust storm and lightning has been issued for Bhiwadi, Bharatpur and Dholpur in Rajasthan.

Orange alert issued for Uttarakhand

The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rain in Uttarakhand. ‘Orange alert’ has been issued for April 28 and 29. Nainital, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh may experience very heavy rain and hailstorm with thunder and lightning. The wind speed can remain between 40 to 50 kilometers per hour.

There is a possibility of light to moderate rain and snowfall in the hill state of Jammu and Kashmir from April 27 to 29, while similar conditions are expected in Himachal Pradesh between April 28 to 30. Hail is also expected in Jammu and Kashmir on April 28, and in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on April 28 and 29. ‘Thundersqualls’ may occur over Punjab and Haryana on April 28 and 29. Northeast India—especially Sikkim, West Bengal and other northeastern states—will remain at risk of heavy rain and lightning throughout the week.
