New Delhi. After staying at one place for about 15 days, the southwest monsoon has now started moving forward. According to the Meteorological Department, the formation of a low pressure area in the Bay of Bengal has given strength to the monsoon to advance. On Monday, monsoon entered Chhattisgarh via Dantewada, following which the weather department issued an alert of heavy rain in Bastar region.

At the same time, a strong storm occurred in Thoothukodi, Tamil Nadu on Sunday, which was initially considered a tornado. However, on Monday the Meteorological Department classified it as a dust storm.

Rain has started in many areas since Sunday. Meghalaya in the north-east has received heavy rainfall, where Mosinram in Khasi Hills district recorded 530 mm of rainfall in 24 hours. Some parts of Bihar have also received rain with strong thunderstorms, which is being considered as pre-monsoon rain.
