Bhumi Pednekar welcomed in ‘The Pride of India’
An important information has come to light about ‘The Pride of India: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’, a major and ambitious film of Indian cinema. The makers of the film have officially included Bhumi Pednekar in this multi-starrer project. Bhumi will share the screen with famous South Indian cinema actor Rishabh Shetty for the first time. The film is set to be released in theaters worldwide on the occasion of Republic Day on 21 January 2027.
Bhumi Pednekar’s character
Bhumi Pednekar is going to play a powerful historical role in this film. She will play the character of fearless warrior queen Belawadi Mallamma, who is known for protecting the motherland during the time of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. However, the makers have kept Bhumi’s look and poster a secret till now.
Rishabh Shetty’s look
The film’s directors Sandeep Singh and Rishabh Shetty shared the first look of Rishabh as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in December 2024. Rishabh wrote in an emotional message, “It is a matter of pride for us that we are presenting the story of the great warrior of India. This is not just a film, but the saga of a warrior who faced every challenge.”

After the success of ‘Kantara’, Rishabh Shetty has worked in ‘Kantara: Chapter 2’ (2025). Apart from this, he will also be seen in Prashant Verma’s superhero film ‘Jai Hanuman’. Meanwhile, Bhumi Pednekar will be seen in ‘Mere Husband Ki Biwi’ (2025) with Arjun Kapoor and Rakul Preet Singh. Recently, he has also received praise in the OTT series ‘Daldal’ (2026).

Directed by Sandeep Singh, this period-action drama is considered to be one of the biggest releases of 2027.
