Record 18 cm water in Bisalpur dam in 24 hours, water level rising rapidly; Big relief for Jaipur-Ajmer-Tonk

Amidst the monsoon activity in Rajasthan, a very good news has emerged regarding Bisalpur Dam. Bisalpur dam built on Banas river in Tonk district has recorded a record inflow of 18 cm water in the last 24 hours. The water level is increasing rapidly due to continuous inflow of water into the dam. This news is going to be a relief for the areas including Jaipur, Ajmer and Tonk, where Bisalpur Dam is the main source of drinking water supply.

According to the information, on the morning of August 13, the water level of Bisalpur dam reached 313.75 RL meters. The total filling capacity of the dam is 315.50 RL metres. In this situation, the dam is about 1.75 meters below its full filling level. The process of water reaching the dam continues with 18 cm of water inflow being recorded in the last 24 hours.

Water also increased in Triveni river

The rain in its catchment area is considered to be the main reason behind the increase in water inflow into Bisalpur Dam. The height of Triveni in the downstream area of the dam has been recorded at about 3.90 meters. Earlier, the effect of the strong flow of Triveni river was also seen on the inflow of water into Bisalpur dam. Due to rain in Bhilwara and Chittorgarh region, water in Triveni river has increased, whose water is further reaching Bisalpur dam.

Bisalpur Dam is one of the most important water sources of Rajasthan. The dam supplies drinking water to many areas including Jaipur, Ajmer and Tonk. This is the reason why the increase in the water level of the dam during monsoon is considered a news of relief for millions of people.

Dam approaching filling capacity

The maximum filling capacity of Bisalpur Dam is 315.50 RL metres. The dam is gradually moving towards its full filling capacity after the current water level reaches 313.75 RL metres. If the rainy season in the catchment area continues like this and the inflow of water continues, then the water level may increase further in the coming days.

The increase in the water level of Bisalpur Dam also strengthens the drinking water system of Jaipur. When sufficient water is stored in the monsoon, the worry of heat and next year's drinking water crisis is reduced to a great extent.

At present, the inflow of water into the dam is said to be going on at a slow pace. Officials of the Irrigation and Water Supply Department are constantly monitoring the water level and inflow. Rainfall and flow conditions of Triveni in the coming days will decide how fast the Bisalpur dam moves towards its full filling capacity.
