Apple will launch new iPhone 18 Pro and foldable iPhone on September 9

New Delhi, August 27 (IANS). The annual event of American technology giant Apple is going to be held on September 9. It will be held at the company's Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, California, where Apple will launch the iPhone 18 Pro and its first foldable iPhone model.

This will be the first major product launch under incoming new CEO John Ternes. Ternes will take over as CEO of Apple on September 1, succeeding Tim Cook.

The company is expected to launch the new iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in this event. However, according to reports both the models may come with relatively small upgrades compared to the existing models rather than major design changes.

According to reports, Apple will not launch the standard iPhone 18 this year. The standard iPhone 18, iPhone 18e, and iPhone Air 2 are expected to be introduced in the first half of 2027.

Apple's foldable device may be named “iPhone Ultra”. It is likely to have a foldable design that opens like a book. The device may have an internal display of around 7.8 inches and an external screen of around 5.5 inches.

An under-display camera can be provided in the inner screen of the phone and a punch-hole camera can be provided in the outer display. Early price estimates suggest that the device will be significantly more expensive than Apple's current lineup. In some reports, its starting price is said to be around $2,000.

According to reports, a dual-camera setup can be given on the back of the foldable iPhone, which will include the main and ultra-wide-angle cameras. Additionally, Apple is also likely to bring back TouchID in the iPhone.

iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are likely to be launched at the September event. The new A20 Pro chip can be used in these devices, which will be based on 2nm manufacturing process. Apple's C2 modem can also be provided with it.

A major upgrade is also expected in the camera. The iPhone 18 Pro Max is likely to have a variable-aperture main camera. Apple is also reportedly working on under-display Face ID technology.

The company may also update its smartwatch lineup at the September event. The new generation AirPods Pro, expected to be introduced in September, may feature camera-equipped earbuds. These can work with Apple's visual intelligence features, allowing the system to understand the surrounding objects and environment.
