Tata Nexon is among the company's most popular SUVs in the Indian market. Now Tata Motors is working on its next-generation model. According to reports, the new generation Tata Nexon can be launched in the Indian market around 2027. Many major changes can be seen in the new Nexon, from design to interior, space and powertrain.
The new SUV is expected to be built on a significantly updated and localized version of the existing platform. Due to this, the dimensions of the car may also change. The larger size and new design can give it a different look compared to the existing model.
Design and features can be inspired by Sierra
A glimpse of Tata's new design language can be seen in the cabin of the new Nexon. Some of the premium features that the company is using in its large SUV Sierra may also reach the next generation Nexon.
Features like large touchscreen infotainment system, newly designed steering wheel and electronic parking brake can be provided in the new SUV. Apart from this, features like powered adjustment and panoramic sunroof are also likely to be available in the front seats.
Connected car technology can also be more advanced than before. With this, improvements can be seen in the features related to infotainment, connectivity and remote functions of the car.
Work on new engine and powertrain also
The powertrain is also expected to be updated in the next-generation Nexon. A new naturally aspirated petrol engine option could be included with the existing 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine.
The diesel engine is also likely to be continued, although there may be changes in its transmission option. The company can also update the CNG and electric versions of the new Nexon.
Especially in the electric model, there is a possibility of providing a bigger battery, which can improve the driving range as compared to the current model. However, the final specifications related to engine, battery and gearbox will be clear only after the official announcement by the company.
Cabin will be bigger and rear space will be better
With the increase in exterior dimensions of the new Nexon, it is also expected to get more space in its cabin. The larger wheelbase can especially benefit the rear passengers.
Apart from more legroom on the rear seat, a new dashboard layout can also be seen. New theme, improved climate control system and updated connected car features can be included in the cabin.
Tata can use better quality materials and more premium finish in the interior of the new Nexon. This is expected to give the car a more upmarket look compared to the current model.
