New psychological test for understanding relationships
In Indian tradition, the horoscopes of the boy and the girl are matched before marriage. Pandits give information about the future of marriage through this process. But recently scientists have developed a psychological test which does not require date, time or place of birth.
Researchers say that when a person sees a picture of his partner, a positive or negative reaction can arise in his mind within a few moments. Based on this initial reaction, the person's emotions can be assessed.
quick response to photo
In this test, the participant is shown a picture of his partner for a very short period of time. After this, he has to express his reaction in a few words without much thought. The researchers also focused on the speed and tone of the response during this period.
The purpose of this test is that when a person has positive feelings towards his partner, his initial reaction to seeing the picture may also be positive. In contrast, the reaction may be different in the case of negative emotions.
Study on 135 newly married couples
135 newly married couples were included in this study. Researchers studied these couples' relationships long-term and evaluated their status approximately every six months.
This surveillance continued for about four years. Researchers tried to find out how the feelings shown towards the partner at the beginning of marriage are related to the status of the relationship later on.
Effect of negative thinking on relationship
Research found that individuals whose initial reactions were negative toward their partner were more likely to experience decreased marital satisfaction over time. In some cases, relationships deteriorated to the point of divorce.
However, this type of testing should not be viewed as a definitive prediction of the future of a marriage. A relationship is also affected by mutual understanding, communication, behavior, financial status and feelings changing over time.
The main objective of this research was to understand that a person's immediate and unconscious psychological reaction What it might indicate about his inner feelings towards the relationship.
