The socks worn daily start looking dirty within a few days. Especially on the heels and soles of white and light colored socks, blackness accumulates due to dust, soil and sweat. Many times, even after washing them with normal detergent, complete cleaning is not achieved. In such a situation, the cloth and elastic of the socks can also get damaged due to repeated vigorous rubbing.
If your socks also get dirty quickly, then they can be cleaned with some easy home methods. These methods involve first soaking the socks and then gently cleaning them.
Sort socks according to color
Before washing socks, separate them according to color. Washing white socks with dark clothes can cause discoloration. It is better to soak very dirty socks for a while instead of putting them directly in the washing machine. This loosens the dirt stuck to the clothes.
Clean in lukewarm water
Socks that have a lot of dirt accumulated near the heels and soles can be soaked in lukewarm water. Add some detergent to a bucket of water and leave the socks for about 20-30 minutes. After this, clean the dirty area slowly with your hands.
Avoid using very hot water, as this may affect the fibers of some clothes and the elastic of socks.
Baking Soda can remove odor and dirt
Baking soda can be used to reduce the smell and accumulated dirt coming from socks. Mix a small amount of baking soda in detergent water and soak the socks for some time. After this, clean them gently and wash them thoroughly in clean water.
Lighter than Lemon Stain reduce down
Lemon is also used to reduce some stains on light colored socks. After mixing lemon juice in water and soaking the socks for some time, you can wash them normally. However, it is better to test any new solution on a small area before using it on the entire fabric.
Method of drying socks is also important
After washing, squeeze the socks thoroughly and dry them in open air. Keeping wet socks in a closed place for a long time can cause problems like odor and moisture. Additionally, prolonged exposure to high heat or excessive sunlight may affect the color and elasticity of some clothing.
