Ambuja Cements' second quarter income crossed Rs 9 thousand crore, sales stood at 16.5 million tonnes.

Ahmedabad, October 29 (IANS). Adani Group company Ambuja Cements on Thursday released its results for the second quarter of FY27. During this period, the company's operating income on quarterly basis has been Rs 9,197 crore. At the same time, operating EBITDA was Rs 1,271 crore and EBITDA margin was 13.8 percent.

The cement maker recorded sales of 16.5 million tonnes during the quarter, driven by steady growth in its trade business, according to stock exchange filings.

Trade volumes increased by 8.6 percent year-on-year, while the share of trade sales increased by 6 percentage points to 74 percent.

The share of premium products in trade sales was 37 percent, which is 2 percentage points higher than a year ago.

According to the company's regulatory filing, the company's EBITDA per tonne in this quarter stood at Rs 770.

Ambuja Cements said it has commissioned new capacity of 4.6 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) in the quarter, which includes projects at Dahej, Salai Banwan and Kalamboli.

Additional capacity of 3.2 MTPA at Bathinda and Jodhpur Penna is being stabilized and scaled up, while 2.4 MTPA capacity at Warisaliganj is expected to be commissioned in H2FY27.

Commenting on the company's performance, Vinod Baheti, Whole-Time Director and CEO, Ambuja Cements, said that despite seasonal challenges and external pressures, the company's results reflect its focus on quality-led growth.

“Our performance in Q2 and H1FY27 reflects Ambuja's focus on quality growth despite seasonality and external challenges. Strengthening the business and premium product mix have improved revenue quality, while disciplined execution and cost management have helped drive profitability,” Baheti said.

According to the company, the total cost in this quarter stood at Rs 4,182 per tonne.

Including the impact of geopolitical disruptions, the total cost was Rs 4,410 per tonne. Industry margins remained under pressure due to higher prices of petcoke and coal, higher diesel costs and increased packaging expenses.

The company said logistics costs increased slightly compared to last year, although this impact was mitigated to some extent by reduction in primary lead distance from 265 km to 254 km.

On the financial front, Ambuja has maintained its balance sheet debt-free. The company's net worth is Rs 72,238 crore, and it has cash of Rs 1,070 crore.

Additionally, the company has the highest AAA/A1+ credit ratings from agencies such as CRISIL, CARE Ratings, India Ratings and ICRA.
