Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has announced to take out a protest march in Delhi on September 5, accusing the central government of not fulfilling the promises made to the youth. According to the party, this march will start from India Gate and go to New Delhi Police Headquarters. Families of students affected by the NEET paper leak and alleged irregularities in the examination will also participate in the protest.
Allegations of promises not being fulfilled even after assurances
The CJP took the decision on the march after a virtual meeting of its working committee on Monday. The party says that on July 25, the Jantar Mantar movement was withdrawn on the basis of assurances given to the students by the Central Government. The government had assured to close the cases registered against the protesters and students, but according to CJP, no concrete action has been taken in this direction till now.
Party leaders Saurav Das and Ratna Singh said that the government should fulfill all the promises made during the end of the movement. He demanded withdrawal of all FIRs and stop action against peaceful protesters.
Movement on NEET issue was going on since June 20
CJP had started the agitation at Jantar Mantar from June 20 over the allegations of NEET paper leak and irregularities in the examination. According to the party, the agitation was ended on July 25 after receiving assurance from the government and agreeing to the demand for resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Earlier on July 20 also, the party had taken out a march from Jantar Mantar to Parliament.
Issue raised regarding FIR in Supreme Court
CJP claims that on August 18, the Supreme Court had asked the Central Government for a list of FIRs registered against students and protesters. According to the party, the court can consider quashing these cases under Article 142.
CJP alleges that the Center did not show a clear commitment to provide the complete list of FIRs. The party has called this a sign of going back on the assurances made before ending the movement.
“Will not step back until promises are fulfilled”
CJP Founder Abhijit Deepke has written a letter to the Education Ministers of all the states seeking information about the steps being taken to improve the condition of government schools. The party has made it clear that it will not back down until the government fulfills its promises. The proposed march of September 5 is now being considered as the next big step towards increasing pressure on the Central Government on issues like NEET paper leak, FIR registered against students and improvement in the examination system.
