He has given instructions to conduct relief and rescue operations on a war footing. CM said that in view of the seriousness of the incident, teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been immediately sent to the spot. All concerned departments and agencies, including the district administration, have been instructed to carry out quick relief and rescue operations with coordination.

The Chief Minister has instructed the officials that there should not be any laxity in relief and rescue operations and all possible assistance should be provided to the affected people and their families. Praying to God for the safety of all the people, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the state government is monitoring the situation with full sensitivity and promptness and all possible steps are being taken as per the need.

Safe rescue of 13 people, rescue operation continues

Information has been received about filling of debris and water in the tunnel under construction of THDC at Mayapur (Pipalkoti) under Chamoli district on Thursday evening at around 7:05 pm. According to preliminary information, 18 to 19 people working in the tunnel are reported to be trapped. The said construction work was being done by HCC Company. As soon as information about the incident was received, search and rescue operations were started immediately. So far, 13 people have been safely rescued, while the search and safe rescue operation for the remaining people is continuing. Considering the seriousness of the incident, teams of Army, ITBP, NDRF and SDRF have left for the incident site. At present, rescue operations are being conducted at the spot by DIRF, local police and CISF personnel. The district administration is continuously monitoring the developments and all necessary resources are being mobilized on the spot for rescue and relief operations.
