he state government is going to take a big step towards providing accessible, safe, modern and environment-friendly public transport facilities to the citizens of Madhya Pradesh. The ambitious ‘Mukhyamantri Sugam Parivahan Seva’ of the Transport Department will be launched on 25 September 2026. In the state level program organized at Dussehra ground in Bhopal, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will flag off 351 buses in the initial phase. The main objective of this ambitious scheme of the state government is to strengthen connectivity between different cities of the state, to provide relief to daily commuters and to promote environment-friendly public transport. About 1500 buses will start running in the state under the Chief Minister Sugam Transport Service.

Bus services will start in two categories
During the programme, 351 buses will be flagged off simultaneously. It is divided into two categories. It has 120 intercity buses. These buses will make transportation between two or more cities easier and faster. The 231 intracity buses will provide safe, accessible and affordable travel facilities to citizens within the cities.
351 buses from 7 cities will be flagged off
In the first phase under the Chief Minister Sugam Transport Service, buses from 7 major cities of the state will be flagged off. This includes Indore, Bhopal, Jabalpur, Rewa, Dewas, Katni and Bhind. 145 buses for Indore, including 50 intercity, 95 intracity, 106 buses for Bhopal, including 23 intercity, 83 intracity, 67 buses for Jabalpur, including 14 intercity, 53 intracity. 18 intercity buses of Rewa, 10 intercity buses of Dewas, 3 intercity buses of Katni and 2 intercity buses of Bhind will be flagged off.
About 15,000 public buses will be operated
Under the Chief Minister Sugam Parivahan Seva, rural connectivity will be strengthened by connecting 75 percent of gram panchayats with bus services by the year 2031. More than 15,000 modern public buses will be operated across the state. This will provide safe transportation facility to more than 30 lakh passengers every day. Also, more than 180 modern bus stands, terminals and depots will be rejuvenated.
Special emphasis on expansion of electric buses
The state government will lay special emphasis on expansion of clean fuel and electric buses with the aim of environmental protection and reduction in carbon emissions.

Monitoring will be done through Intelligent Transport Management System (ITMS)
The buses operated under Mukhyamantri Sugam Parivahan Seva will be monitored through Intelligent Transport Management System (ITMS). For this, state-of-the-art command-control centers have been established in Madhya Pradesh Passenger Transport and Infrastructure Limited (MPYPIL) and its 7 subsidiary companies. Through these centres, real-time monitoring of bus operation, location, punctuality and other important activities will be ensured. Along with this, women and child safety has been given top priority in public buses. This will also help in making the passenger transport system more safe, convenient, transparent and effective. All buses are being equipped with 07 CCTV cameras, panic buttons and real-time vehicle location tracking (VLTD) system. Apart from this, safe and timely travel will be ensured through Passenger Information System (PIS), technical training of drivers and prompt grievance redressal mechanism.
Strong participation of private operators through PPP model
Transparent contracting system and incentive schemes will be implemented to give impetus to Public-Private Partnership (PPP). This model will provide facilities to private bus operators to prevent revenue leakage, increase non-fare revenue (such as advertising and cargo services), utilize modern depots and terminals and will also get full support from the administration.
Employment and investment in transport sector will get a boost
Starting of easy passenger transport service in the state will boost employment and investment in the transport sector. The expansion of passenger transport will increase investment opportunities in bus operations, vehicle manufacturing, electric mobility, charging infrastructure, technical services and other related sectors in the state. This will encourage industries related to transport sector and will also create new employment and self-employment opportunities for the youth.
