Glasgow, August 1. Indian boxers created history at the Commonwealth Games 2026 and concluded their campaign in the ring on Saturday with their best-ever performance with a total of 10 medals, including seven gold and three silver.
In this sequence, the women boxers stole the show as per the expectations and won five golds while two golds went to the male boxers. Earlier, India had won seven medals including three gold in boxing in the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games 2018, which was its best performance till date.

Jasmine, Preeti, Sakshi, Arundhati and Priya looted the party
Among women boxers, current world champion Jasmine Lamboria (57 kg), Preeti Pawar (54 kg), Sakshi Choudhary (51 kg), Arundhati Choudhary (70 kg), Priya Ghanghas (60 kg) performed brilliantly and won gold medals in their weight categories. Whereas Olympic medalist Lovlina Borgohain (75 kg) had to be satisfied with the silver medal.

Sachin and Ankush spread golden shine in men’s category
On the other hand, in the men’s category, Sachin Siwach (60 kg) and Ankush Panghal (70 kg) won gold medals, while in the 55 kg category, Jadumani Singh and in the 90 plus kg category, Narendra Berwal won silver medals.
India jumped to fourth position in the table with 39 medals including 13
In fact, a day before the conclusion of the Games, i.e. on the 10th Saturday of the events, Indians collected a total of 16 medals and placed themselves fourth in the medal tally after Australia, England and Canada. Indian players won a total of eight gold, five silver and three bronze medals during this period. Now India has a total of 39 medals in its account including 13 gold, 17 silver and nine bronze.
Indian boxers get support like home at SAC Arena
In fact, the Indian boxers got a home-like support at the SAC Arena amid slogans of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘India India’. Ankush Panghal gave India its seventh gold medal by defeating Dimeji Shittu of England in the final of men’s 80 kg weight category. Ankush won against Shittu by a split decision of 4-1.

Earlier, Sachin Siwach won the gold medal by defeating Namibia’s Triagen Morning Ndewalo in a thrilling final of 60 kg weight category. This was India’s sixth gold medal. Sachin made a brilliant comeback after falling behind in the first two rounds and won. He forced Ndwelo to a ‘standing count’ in the third and final round following which the Indian boxer won a 3-2 split decision.

Khelo India athlete Jadumani Singh Mandengbam secured the Silver Medal in the Men’s 55kg event at the Commonwealth Games 2026.

In India’s third match of the day, Jadumani Singh had to face a tough fight against Australia’s Jai Dixon and lost 0-5 and got the silver medal. Whereas Narendra had to lose 0-5 at the hands of England’s Damar Thomas in the 90 plus kg title bout.

Olympic medalist Lovlina Borgohain had to be satisfied with silver.
On the other hand, in the women’s category, Olympic medalist Lovlina Borgohain, however, had to settle for a silver medal due to a 1-4 defeat in a split decision against Australia’s Emma Sue Greentree in the 70 kg final.

These women boxers spread their magic
At present, the other five boxers who entered the ring created a show and were successful in winning the gold medal. Arundhati defeated Chantelle Reid of England 5-0 in the final of 70 kg category. Preeti won the gold medal by defeating Canada’s Scarlett Delgado 5-0 in a one-sided match in the 54 kg final.

Jasmine defeated defending champion Michaela
After this, current world champion Jasmine also won the gold medal in the women’s 57 kg category by defeating defending champion Michaela Walsh of Northern Ireland by the same margin of 5-0.

Sakshi defeated England’s Ruby White 5-0 in the 51kg final to give India its third boxing gold medal of the day. Priya faced a tough challenge from Canada’s Marie Bathol Al Ahmadieh on the women’s side, but the Indian boxer won the title with a 4-1 split decision.

BFI congratulated the boxers on their historic performance
Meanwhile, the Boxing Federation of India (BFI) congratulated the Indian boxers on their historic performance. The federation wrote on social media that out of 14 boxers, 10 returned with medals, including a record seven gold medals. Calling it an unprecedented achievement for Indian boxing in a single edition of the Commonwealth Games, the federation congratulated the ‘Magnificent Seven’ for bringing glory to the country.
