Speaking to news agency IANS on the alleged attack on Pappu Yadav during a press conference, Congress MP Sukhdev Bhagat said, “If people disagree with you, they resort to violence, which is not good for democracy. If he (Pappu Yadav) is saying something and you disagree, this kind of reaction (attack) should not happen. I strongly condemn it.”
He further said, “In a way, this is an attack on freedom of speech. The government should look into these matters and take strict action.”
Reacting to the Bankipur by-election results, the Congress MP wished Prashant Kishor well. He said, “He has been the strategist for the entire election. It remains to be seen how successful he is in his policies and how much trust he can win from the public. He made many promises, and we expect him to fulfill them.”
Sukhdev Bhagat said, “Both things are important in a democracy, and I believe that Prashant Kishor did not contest elections when he hadn’t formed his own party, and this time he is contesting. I wish him all the best.”
Regarding questions raised about the Karnataka Police Recruitment Exam, the Congress MP said, “I believe it is the government’s responsibility. Often, delays in delivering papers occur due to traffic or other reasons. If there is a significant gap, people become suspicious. At present, the government should give a clear answer to this and strive to uphold its responsibility.”
Regarding the bills being introduced in Parliament by the central government, Sukhdev Bhagat said, “I believe that the bills being introduced today should be discussed meaningfully. The government has a majority and can pass bills by voice vote, but it should not happen that bills remain undiscussed. It is the ruling party’s responsibility to give the opposition an opportunity to speak and facilitate meaningful discussion.”
