Contenders for the post of CM are giving warnings, workers are restless, Congress stuck in Kerala too?
It’s been a week since the assembly election results came out. Despite not having absolute majority in Tamil Nadu, Vijay has become the Chief Minister. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government has started work in Bengal and Himanta Biswa Sarma is taking oath in Assam. Meanwhile, the Congress party which returned to power in Kerala with a bumper majority has not yet been able to take a decision on the name of the Chief Minister. There are many contenders in Congress and the claim is visible from Kerala to the streets of Delhi. As a result, the sell-out of Congress workers is increasing and the Congress leadership seems to be in trouble once again.
Before Kerala, Karnataka has seen continuous confusion. There is a demand again and again to make DK Shivkumar the Chief Minister but the Congress leadership does not give any clear answer. In the past, rebellion was barely stopped in Himachal Pradesh. Voices of rebellion have been rising in Telangana also. Just a few years ago, due to your discord, the Congress Party has lost the government in states like Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan. Kamal Nath’s government had fallen in Madhya Pradesh and he had suffered electoral defeat in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. This is the reason why questions are being raised on the Congress leadership and demands are being made to take a decision soon.
The claimants are adamant
Senior Congress leaders Ramesh Chennithala and VD Satheesan have become MLAs in the state. Ramesh Chennithala is presenting his claim on the basis of experience, while VD Satheesan argues that it is not necessary that the one who has done such work before should become the Chief Minister. Congress Organization General Secretary KC Venugopal is also one of the major contenders. Apart from these three, there are rumors about the names of leaders like Shashi Tharoor and current Kerala Congress President Sunny Joseph. Meanwhile, reports of stubbornness of many leaders are also coming out due to which the matter is stuck.

It is being said that Ramesh Chennithala and VD Satheesan have indicated that if KC Venugopal is sent as the CM from Delhi, then both the leaders will not join the government i.e. they will not take any ministerial post. Now reports are coming that VD Satheesan has clearly said that either he should be made the Chief Minister or he will not accept any other post. According to sources, the Congress leadership is of the opinion that KC Venugopal will be given CM, Ramesh Chennithala will be given speaker and VD Satheesan will be given important ministerial posts. However, VD Satheesan and Ramesh Chennithala are said to not agree on this formula.
IUML got into trouble
It is being said that Congress’s ally in Kerala, Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) is completely in favor of VD Satheesan. This is the reason why despite the support of less Congress MLAs, Satheesan’s claim is getting stronger. In Kerala, which has 140 assembly seats, Congress has won 63 seats and IUML has won 22 seats. Including other Congress allies, it has more than 100 MLAs but IUML is its strongest supporter.

At the same time, most of the Congress MLAs are with KC Venugopal but the allies are not agreed on his name. Many big leaders of Kerala Congress are also said to be not agreeing on the name of Venugopal. Another reason is that KC Venugopal is currently a Lok Sabha MP and if he is made the Chief Minister, then within 6 months he will have to become a member of the Legislative Assembly and one seat will have to be vacated.
Displeasure with posterity
Ever since the election results came, it has been seen that supporters of KC Venugopal and VD Satheesan started making posters. At many places from Kerala to Delhi, supporters of both of them put up posters and demanded to make their respective leaders the Chief Minister. It is being said that the top leadership of Congress is angry with this and has asked to stop it immediately. After this message, the supporters of both the leaders removed the posters but their restlessness has not diminished. It is being said that the supporters of both the leaders are now getting restless and have started demanding a decision as soon as possible.
Congress seems stuck in this situation. It is also being said that Rahul Gandhi wants KC Venugopal to be made the Chief Minister, while Priyanka Gandhi is in favor of VD Satheesan. On the other hand, many other leaders are also waiting for this opportunity that if the talks do not work out regarding these two names then their lottery may be held.
