Cooperation between India and Moldova will increase from trade to digital infrastructure.

New Delhi, 21 July 2026: During President Draupadi Murmuni’s visit to Moldova, India and Moldova agreed to strengthen cooperation in the areas of trade, investment, supply chain and connectivity. Speaking after bilateral talks with Moldovan President Maia Sandu at the Presidential Palace in Chisinau, President Murmu said that the two countries have decided to deepen economic cooperation and partnership in several strategic areas.

First state visit, a historic milestone in relations

President Murmu had said that this is the first political visit by an Indian President to Moldova, which is a historic milestone in the relations between the two countries. He noted that India and Moldova have enjoyed friendly relations for more than three decades, and that despite geographical differences, shared values ​​of peace, development and international cooperation have strengthened this partnership.

Economic cooperation will get new scope

Draupadi Murmu had said that both the countries have agreed to strengthen trade, investment, supply chain and connectivity. They have also agreed to increase cooperation in areas such as agriculture, logistics, infrastructure, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, renewable energy, digital public infrastructure, artificial intelligence and innovation.

Emphasis on education and capacity building

The President said that education and capacity building are important pillars of India-Moldova relations. The two leaders also discussed promoting academic exchanges and institutional partnerships in higher education.

Expanding ITEC Training and AI Collaboration

President Murmu announced that India has decided to double ITEC training slots for Moldovan professionals. This will include special courses on artificial intelligence and new technology. Moldovan diplomats have also been invited to participate in special training programs on AI and cyber diplomacy at the Foreign Service Institute of India.

Hope to cooperate in global initiative

Draupadi Murmu had said that cooperation between the two countries is progressing under the International Solar Alliance. He expressed hope that Moldova will also join the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI) and the Global Biofuel Alliance in the future.

Reaffirms Sahih’s commitment to peace and diplomacy

President Murmu said that he and President Maya Sandu also discussed regional and global issues. Both countries reiterated their commitment to peace, dialogue and respect for international law. He said that India always supports dialogue and diplomacy to resolve disputes and stands for global peace and stability.
