Cough syrup smuggling case: Crackdown on 18 accused including mastermind Shubham Jaiswal, 38000 page charge sheet filed

Varanasi, 17 April. In the much-discussed banned codeine-laced cough syrup case of Uttar Pradesh, the Kotwali police on Thursday filed a 38,000-page charge sheet in the Honorable Court against 18 accused, including fugitive gangster Shubham Jaiswal. On the other hand, efforts to bring fugitive Shubham Jaiswal to the country are also going on at a fast pace. Kotwali police has filed a charge sheet of about 38,000 pages in the Varanasi court in a big case related to illegal sale and smuggling of codeine-laced cough syrup. This action was taken under the crime control campaign of Police Commissioner Varanasi.

The case is registered in Police Station Kotwali Commissionerate Varanasi under case number 235/2025. A case was registered against the accused under Section 26(D) of the NDPS Act along with enhanced sections 61(2), 318(4), 336(3), 338, 340(2) BNS and Sections 8, 21, 29 and 27A of the NDPS Act. This charge sheet has been prepared under the direction of Deputy Commissioner of Police Kashi Zone, supervision of Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Kashi Zone and the leadership of Assistant Police Commissioner Kotwali and Inspector-in-charge Kotwali. A total of 18 accused have been named in this, including one absconding accused.

Key accused Shubham Jaiswal has been declared a fugitive. Other key accused include Bhola Prasad Jaiswal, Prateek Mishra, Vishal Kumar Sonkar, Prateek Kumar, Dharmendra Kumar Aggarwal, Aditya Jaiswal, Rahul Yadav, Himanshu Kasera, Akash Pathak, Vikas Singh, Ankit Kumar Srivastava, Swapnil Kesari, Dinesh Yadav, Ashish Yadav, Mahesh Khaitan, Badal Arya and Vishal Kumar Jaiswal.

According to the police, this charge sheet has been prepared on the basis of extensive investigation and strong evidence. The accused face serious charges related to illegal trade of cough syrup containing codeine. Police teams are continuously raiding to arrest the absconding accused Shubham Jaiswal. Further legal action is underway in the matter.
