The Bihar government honored two of the biggest superstars of the state, Akashdeep and Mukesh Kumar in a grand function. Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary gave appointment letters to both the players for the post of DSP. Now a new news is coming out about this. The jobs of both the players are in danger. If they want to stay in Bihar Police for long, they have to accept this condition of Govt.

Akashdeep and Mukesh Kumar's jobs are in danger
Akashdeep, a resident of Sasaram and Mukesh Kumar, a resident of Gopalganj are currently DSPs in Bihar Police. However, the Bihar government has now imposed a condition on the players who have recently got government jobs. The government has made it clear that athletes who get government jobs through sports quota will have to participate in all competitions related to their sport for the next five years. Hence, Akashdeep and Mukesh Kumar will have to play domestic cricket for the next five years despite not being a part of Team India anymore. If they fail to do so even after getting fit, they may lose their DSP job. Both of them also met Bihar Police officials together.
As per the Bihar Government's Recruitment of Outstanding Sportspersons Regulation 2026, the appointed sportspersons are bound to participate in competitions as active sportspersons for five years from the date of joining the job. It is mandatory to maintain participation in the field of sports while in government service. This means that if a player cannot actively participate in sporting events as per the terms, there may be difficulties in retaining his service. Under the Bihar government's scheme 'Medal Lao, Jobi Pao', ('Bring a medal, get a job'), sportspersons who have brought glory to the state and the country at the international level are recruited into government service.
Both star players out due to injuries
Currently, both Akashdeep and Mukesh Kumar are out of the Indian team. Akashdeep could not play the Test series against Sri Lanka due to injury. Due to the same injury, he could not play in IPL 2026 as well. Mukesh Kumar is currently away from cricket due to injury. Akashdeep Singh played for India last year. Mukesh Kumar last played for the Indian team in 2024. Since then he has been trying to make a comeback.
Akashdeep made his international debut in the 2024 Ranchi Test against England and played his last match for India at the Oval in 2025, while Mukesh Kumar made his debut in all three formats during the 2023 West Indies tour. He played his last international match in 2024 against Zimbabwe.
